Have you, the bride to be, taken time to think about changing your name to your husband’s or keeping your surname? As the bride, you are very busy planning your dream wedding. There are so many details to decide on, shop for, and coordinate, and finalize. During your engagement, you should be thinking about this important decision of whether to change your last name or not.
For the bride, this decision to change her name requires thoughtful consideration regarding career, family and financial situations. As a modern bride, you have the choice of keeping your maiden name, taking your husband’s name, joining both surnames with a hyphen, or as a professional woman choosing to use your maiden name for work and legally taking your husband’s name. You also have the option to do the opposite.
Side note: Financial counselors suggest the bride request a separate credit history to be maintained under the bride’s maiden name. We hope you’ll never need this, but they also advise it is wise for a woman to keep one or two credit cards under her maiden name to maintain a credit rating in the event she is widowed or divorced. (Also, have at least a couple of your utility bills, in addition to credit cards, in your name to maintain a credit rating under your married name.)
If you don’t want to change your last name, you don’t need to do anything. Check with your lawyer to be sure. If you choose to legally change your maiden name to your husband’s, you should start the process as soon as you return from your honeymoon.
There are several options on how you can approach this time consuming project. You have the option of just winging it on your own changing your last name as things come along, purchasing the Do-It-Yourself The Name Change Kit for Brides with Software and Planner for $29.95…plus the cost requesting a marriage certificate for either choices…to help you tackle the time consuming task, or to save you over 13 hours of tedious work, sign up with the premiere online MissNowMrs Online Name Change Servicefor $29.95 plus $4.95 for marriage certificate request. Brides, have you started shopping for shoes for your bridal party and yourself? If you have, do you find it’s style winning over comfort? I found that brides (bridesmaids and mothers, too) don’t have to give one up for the other, nor hurt the budget in doing so.
With the emphasis more on fashion today than ever before, bridal shoe fashions vary in style but not in comfort…”Oh, my aching feet!” is pretty much what photographers here the bride saying after 12 hours on their feet. Heels are getting higher and toes are more pointed in women’s fashionable styles. But, in reality, these are just what your feet don’t need to be healthy. NewJerseyWeddingVendors wants you to be comfortable and enjoy your wedding day in your new stylish bridal shoes.
What are the brides wearing these days? Just look at some of the stylish bridal shoes that I found online at Bellissimabridalshoes.com

Since the camera will be focused on you most of the day and evening, you want to look your best as long as you can hold out…without taking your shoes off and without pain in your smile! Eventually, every bride does take her bridal shoes off. But no matter which bridal shoe style you choose for your wedding day, there are somethings you can do for your feet…and they aren’t expensive.
These few tips will probably be the least expensive items you will spend money on for your wedding yet will be the most important to help you enjoy your day. These important wedding day items are…
Pamper your feet and enjoy a spa pedicure every few weeks and just before your wedding day.
Insert AirPlus for Her: Gel Ball-of-Foot Cushion into your bridal shoes. They are made of lightweight polymer gel that provides superior shock absorption, excellent cushioning, and long-lasting comfort.
Roll Band-Aid Blister Block on your heels before putting your bridal shoes on. Blister Block prevents blisters before they start while you’re wearing your new bridal shoes. (Visit Band-Aid’s website, enter your email address, and you’ll receive a coupon for Band-Aid’s Blister Block Stick.)

When shopping for your bridal shoes, remember the following shoe buying tips…
If your bridal shoes aren’t comfortable, don’t buy them.
Always go shopping later in the day, that’s because your feet actually expand as the day goes on.
To help cushion the ball of your foot from stress and prevent fatigue, insert a gel cushion into each pair of bridal shoes before you try them on so you’ll be sure there is room for your foot and the cushion.
The Waterview Pavillion Banquet Hall, Belmar NJ, is located across from the Belmar Marina and adjacent to the Belmar Motor Lodge on Route 35 and a short distance from the beach. The Riverview Pavillion offers water views of the Shark River.
What makes the Waterview Pavillion unique is the ballroom (150 person minimum) second story balcony that can accommodate your cocktail hour, leaving the first floor for your reception. The Waterview Pavillion also has a smaller room available for a smaller wedding reception or rehearsal dinner requiring a 50 person minimum. The wedding banquet staff can also help you plan your ceremony to be held at the Waterview or Riverview Pavillion (150 person minimum).
To visualize what your NJ shore wedding reception may be like if held it at the Waterview Pavillion, view this YouTube Video taken in 2007:
Waterview Pavillion Wedding Reception, 2007
The Waterview and Riverview Pavillions’ menu offers the bride and groom the choice of a sit down, buffet, or brunch wedding reception. Give them a call at 732-681-4600.
As the host of his daughter’s wedding reception, the father of the bride may open the wedding reception after the introductions by
welcoming the groom’s family into his
welcoming the guests
commenting on how lovely the bride looks
commenting how nice the ceremony was
The father of the bride’s words to his daughter shouldn’t come across as a speech. It should be from the heart, giving
short anecdotes involving the bride and her father
some humorous and serious marriage advice tips
Next, the bride’s father should transition into introducing the DJ or band, photographer, and giving any other comments on the reception.
The father of the bride’s 10 minutes in front of his guests should end with a toast to the bride and groom giving wishes for a lifetime of love and happiness.
If the father of the bride is not comfortable giving a speech in front of 100 plus friends and family at the wedding reception, suggest that he write or find a poem that expresses his heartfelt feelings. If he isn’t into searching for poems, ask the bestman or another person who knows both the father and bride well to help find several poems from which the bride’s father can choose.
The following poem is an example of a father of the bride to the bride poem which can be read by the father at the wedding reception. The wedding poem ends with a toast to the bride and groom.
My Loving daughter,
A miracle happened when you came into this world…
A new life was given to me by my baby girl.
As I held you in my protective arms…
You wooed me with your adoring charms.
Responsibility for your life gave me great pause…
It was at that moment I knew what true love was.
Over the years I watched you gracefully grow…
From baby dolls and on to each new beau,
All the while a father protecting you from fears…
And praising you with many adoring cheers.
But most of all, my daughter, we laughed and played…
and, sadly, I wish the years could have been delayed,
For today I had one last loving act to do…
Walking down the aisle beside the lovely you.
Giving my daughter away to her groom…
Surprisingly didn’t give me a sense of gloom,
For there is one thing I am sure of…
Your groom now knows real true love.
May the two of you enjoy that love together…
Just as I have with your mother.
We attended a semi-formal beach wedding last weekend at a private home on the Jersey Shore. The sun shone just long enough for their wedding, then blessed them as the heavens opened up and then rained, but for only one hour during the cocktail hour.
Rain on your wedding day means you will be easily blessed with children. The rain didn’t dampen the reception at all. Large tents were positioned on the private beach to keep the sun off, and in this case, also the rain.
The beautiful bride wore an equally beautiful beaded ankle length wedding dress (hem longer in the back) with matching sandals. In place of a headpiece, the bride wore her hair up with a tropical flower which she also held in her bouquet.
But, what I briefly want to tell you about is the groom’s wedding attire. He was so handsome. I wish I had pictures to show you, but I left my camera at home.
The groom was dressed in a white shirt, unbuttoned at the collar with no tie, white dinner jacket, black tux pants, and black sandals. A handkerchief in the jacket’s pocket matched the aqual bridesmaids dresses. His look was very sexy.
A white dinner jacket is appropriate for weddings between Memorial Day and Labor Day and perfect for a beach or destination wedding. Remember, it’s your wedding and you can wear the style you feel the most comfortable in, be creative…enjoy your day.
Your wedding day is approaching and you want to look your best! You ask yourself, “What can I do to be my best for the day and the photos? Not sure if you need to do anything? Look at recent photos of yourself and then decide. Besides, it is always beneficial to exercise and eat right, no matter what shape you are in.
How can I lose weight?
Do you need to lose weight, tone up, or both? If you do, you need to start now and not wait until the last minute. By waiting for the last minute to lose weight too quickly and over exercise, you may become ill or injure yourself, or in some cases…both. You owe it to yourself and your spouse to be to take it slowly and consistently.
Make a Weight Loss and Exercise Plan
Whenever you begin anything new, you need to make a plan which starts with a goal. The same goes for the self-improvement, weightloss plan you are about to launch.
The American Dietetic Association makes the following recommendations:
Write down your attainable, measurable, and realistic goal
research good nutrition (mypyramid.gov)
exercise: body sculpting, weight training, and aerobics
By using mypyramid.gov, you can design a weightloss plan without spending any money beyond a good pair of cross training shoes. At mypyramid.com you can learn about nutrition and how to plan your meals balancing the healthy food groups including the amount nutrients you’re taking in. You will also receive feedback as to the benefits of your exercise plan by learning about calories burned through specific exercises. (more…)
