Alternative NJ Weddings: Hot-Air Balloon

Filed under: NJ Wedding Planning, NJ Wedding Receptions, NJWedding — njweddingvendors @ 12:26 pm

The possibilities are endless for alternative wedding locations. Here is an idea that was recently submitted to NewJerseyWeddingVendors.com:  Hot Air Ballooning!

NJ Wedding Ceremony in a Hot Air Balloon

Float off into the New Jersey sunset with your officiant, exchanging vows in midflight and then landing in a NJ field or local winery where all the guests await with champagne glasses in hand and a five-star menu, catered by one of New Jersey’s finest culinary vendors, waiting for everyone under a tent.

If you want to catch an early flight to start your honeymoon, you could hold an early morning ceremony followed by a champagne breakfast. When it’s time to leave, have a hot air balloon take you two away.

Entrance or Exit

NJ Hot air balloons are a great substitute to dull, ordinary entrances at any social event. Amaze your NJ wedding guests by appearing from hundreds of feet in the air in an enormous, colorful hot air balloon.

With their calm, soothing and captivating presents, hot air balloons make wonderful arrival and departure vehicles for excited brides and grooms. Balloon rides can also add a romantic appeal not only for the bride and groom, but also for every guest.

Your Guests

If your NJ wedding budget allows it, treat your guests to a balloon ride while you take your vows. Most ballon baskets can accommodate four wedding guests. You can provide champagne with every balloon so your wedding guests can toast you after you signal them with your first kiss as husband and wife.

For a less formal and more economic way of including your guests in the fun, they can participate as part of the chase crew to assist in your landing.

The Flight

Every flight is either at sunrise or sunset in the summer, but even by making reservations for a flight, there is no guarantee you’ll take off that day. The pilot must check with the weather service to find out about the winds or possible rain and lightning. If the forecast is too dangerous, the flight is postponed.

For a flight that lasts about one hour, the cost can run anywhere from $150 to $250 per person, depending on the size of your party. The average balloon basket can fit around four people.

A licensed balloon operator must have 10 hours of lessons to get a private rating, and 35 hours for a commercial rating that enables them to take other passengers up. The Federal Aviation Association demands balloons fly at least 500 feet over the nearest obstacle and 1000 feet over towns and cities.
